The Rural Resources Farm and Food Teen Training Program takes local teens who are at risk of food insecurity and teaches them to sustain themselves by growing, preparing, and preserving their own food. Teens also learn business skills, establishing and running their own farm- or food-related businesses. Many of the teen businesses sell their products through the Mobile Farmers’ Market. The locally sourced meat, fruits and vegetables, prepared foods, and garden supplies we sell are all produced through the hard work and ingenuity of these teens, who earn a stipend for their efforts in addition to the educational experience they receive; proceeds of sales support the teen program.
